Entre Tarapacá y Maule habitan numerosas especies de Oxalis, nativas e introducidas. En La Aurora, a fines de invierno cubren de amarillo los cerros con su floración, en especial en las zonas altas y expuestas al sol, lo que se repite tanto en la costa como en el valle central.
Es una hierba perenne de 20 cm de altura con raíz reservante que florece de invierno a mediados de la primavera. De crecimiento rápido, necesita alta luminosidad y buen drenaje. Son ornamentales por su flor en temporada de pocas flores, apareciendo después de las primeras lluvias. No requiere manejos especiales, sólo plantarla y regarla poco. Se utilizan como cubresuelos, en macetas, jardineras y como flor de rocalla.

Numerous species of Oxalis (sorrels or shamrocks), both native and introduced, grow between the Tarapacá to the Maule regions. In La Aurora, in late winter, the mountainsides show large yellow patches of their abundant flowers, especially in the high and sunny areas, which is repeated both on the Coastal Range and in the Central Valley.
The commoner species are 20 cm tall perennial herbs with a reserve root, blooming from winter to mid-spring. Fast growing, they need high luminosity and good drainage. They are ornamental thanks to their blossoming in a season of few flowers, appearing after the first rains. They do not require special handling, just plant them and water sparingly. They are used as soil coverings, in pots, planters and in rock gardens.
