Endémica de Chile. Se distribuye ampliamente entre Tarapacá y la Araucanía, en terrenos soleados con buen drenaje, planos y de exposición norte.

Campanita es una hierba geófita de 15 a 40 cm de altura provista de cormos fibrosos y flores pediceladas, acampanadas y cabizbajas. Sus pétalos van del blanco al violeta oscuro, con o sin manchas. Florece en la primavera tardía y es fácil verla en La Aurora. Aunque pequeña, forma arriates que destacan por el intenso color violeta de sus flores, lo que la hace ornamental. Su fruto es una cápsula tricoca con semillas irregulares. Se propaga por esquejes o semillas.

Endemic to Chile. It is widely distributed between the Tarapacá and Araucanía Regions, in sunny places with good drainage, flat terrain and northern slopes.

The Chilean bluebell is a 15 to 40 cm tall geophyte with fibrous corms and, flared and hanging flowers. Its petals range from white to dark violet, with or without spots. It blooms in late spring and is commonly seen in La Aurora. Although it is small, it forms beds that stand out because of the usually intense violet color of its flowers, which makes it a fine ornamental plant. Its fruit is a tricoccal capsule with irregular seeds. It can be propagated by cuttings or seed.
