Endémica de Chile, crece de Coquimbo a O’Higgins y son plantas rizomatosas, perennes y herbáceas. En La Aurora, se observan a orillas de los caminos durante la primavera y parte del verano, en especial en las zonas altas y expuestas al sol.

Es una hierba de crecimiento rápido y puede florecer el primer año a partir de semilla pero sólo al segundo año alcanzan la madurez total. Necesitan alta luminosidad y suelos con buen drenaje. Son ornamentales por follaje y flor, sus flores parecen estrellitas rosadas. Se plantan a pleno sol y se riegan en forma mediana.

A rhizomatous perennial endemic to Chile, it grows from Coquimbo to the O'Higgins Region, and in La Aurora it can be seen on roadsides during spring and part of summer, especially in high areas and exposed to the sun.

It is a fast-growing herb that, grown from seed, can bloom the first year, but only reaches full maturity in the second year. It needs high luminosity and soils with good drainage. It is ornamental due to its foliage and flowers, which look like little pink stars. It should be planted in full sun and watered sparingly.
